After Crusaders, the city declined. losing its importance.

In 1516, Ottomans entered Palestine. 

In 1596, the population of  Saffuriyya (Sepphoris) was 2,200.

In1745, Zahir al –Umar, governor of the Galilee,  rebuilt the Citadel. Saffuriyya (Sepphoris) became one of his strongholds.

In 1799, Napoléon Bonaparte was stopped in Al-Qastal spring during his war against Ottomans. 

In 1865, Saffuriyya (Sepphoris) was streaked by cholera.

In 1880, The Franciscans  renovated Anne and Joachim Church,

In 1886, the population of  Saffuriyya (Sepphoris) was 2940.

In 1900, the boys' school was founded.

In 1912, the population of  Saffuriyya (Sepphoris) was 2767.
